Ottawa commits $192,000 to Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance
The two-year commitment supports the Intertribal Gathering and ongoing programming aimed at expanding Indigenous arts across Canada.
The Government of Canada announced $192,000 in funding over two years for the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance (IPAA), delivered through the Presenter Support Organizations sub-component of the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.
The commitment splits into $96,000 for 2027-28 and $96,000 for 2028-29, and is earmarked to support IPAA activities including its biannual Intertribal Gathering alongside other ongoing programming and engagement work.
The announcement follows a separate September commitment of $583,200 for four Toronto performing arts and festival organizations — Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, the CanAsian Dance Festival, Native Earth Performing Arts, and Young People's Theatre — suggesting a broader federal push on arts funding this cycle even as some arts organizations nationally brace for tighter budgets elsewhere.
